Windows 10 = 1) Get VirtualBox and a copy of Windows XP. 2) Download 3) Still doesn't work? Try the Win10 Solution. Windows 8 = 1) Remove Video from the install directory. I am using the Imperia mod, mostly because it has the 19th century upgrade and the zoom-out feature borrowed from C2 or American conquest, neither of which were great games IMHO. I've tried the explorer-killing batch file, renaming ddraw to mdraw, and a lot of other things I don't remember now. I can hear sounds, the game is happening, but it can't be seen and there is no mouse visible. I've tried a LOT of stuff to get this to work, but no matter what I do the mouse won't visibly move (though it is in fact moving, because you can hear the game respond to mouseover events), and if I blindly click until I get to the game window, I just see a black screen on under the tool bar. But both of the links to the workaround are dead. I have an Nvidia optimus, intel i7 computer with a 4k screen - the link provided above says that is the system affected by the frozen mouse error. Fix all problems of Cossacks back to war. Includes features such as: mission editor, random map generator, and various multiplayer modes.
